TG Model Master

A guitar and bass amp and cabinet modeller for Windows and macOS. Built so a blind player can dial in a tone without help and without guessing.

What it does

• Seventeen amp models, clean American combos, British stacks, modern high gain. Each with its own preamp voicing, tonestack and power section.
• Convolution cabinet. Ten cabinets, two blendable slots, eight mic placements per cabinet. Loads your own impulse responses too.
• Stereo from the cabinet on. Mono through the amp, splitting at the cab, as a real rig does.
• Effects: gate, screamer boost, five-band EQ, chorus, phaser, flanger, tape delay, four reverbs, limiter.
• A chromatic tuner, accurate to 0.03 cents from 30 Hz to 880 Hz.
• 100 factory presets, in twelve categories from clean to metalcore.
• A DI player, to audition amps against the same riff with no guitar plugged in.

What makes it usable without sight

Presets audition as you arrow through them. Each one loads as you land on it. The screen reader reads the row; the app does not talk over it.

Control plus Up and Down step amp models from any page, so A/B-ing seventeen amps against one riff is two keys.

Mic placement is eight named positions, not three sliders. "Cap edge, close" is a placement you can picture. A slider reading 37 is not.

Every slider crosses in 28 to 200 key presses, sized to its own range rather than a fixed step.

Warnings speak on their own channel, with their own toggle, so silencing them does not also silence preset names.

The impulse response browser searches by name, pack or folder, multi-word, order independent. Every filter change announces the new count.

Measured, not claimed

• 5.3 ms latency at a 256-sample buffer, 48 kHz, 21% CPU, zero dropouts
• Cabinet convolution matches the reference to 0.008 dB at 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz
• All 100 presets level-matched to −18 LUFS, from a 41 dB spread
• Reverb decay within 2% of target on both channels
• Delay timing exact at every buffer size from 64 to 1024
• All seventeen amps measurably different from the same input

Requirements

Windows 10 or 11, or macOS on Apple silicon. Any audio interface; on Windows, ASIO is recommended for low latency but not required.

The plugin is a VST3 for Reaper on either platform, and an Audio Unit for Logic Pro on the Mac. Logic has never loaded VST, which is why the AU exists.
